Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosentein last year discussed possibly secretly reporting President Donald Trump, and also talked about getting members of Trump's cabinet to invoke the Constitution to declare him unfit to remain as president, The New York Times reported Friday.
Rosestein, in a statement to The Times, said, "The New York Times's story is inaccurate and factually incorrect."
"I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda. But let me be clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.
The Department of Justice referred to that statement when contacted by NBC News and asked for comment about the The Times article.
The White House had no immediate comment when contacted by NBC News.
