Israeli spacecraft Beresheet falls short of history as moon landing fails in final moments

Small non-profit SpaceIL was aiming to become the first private entity to softly land a spacecraft on the moon's surface – a feat previously achieved by only three governments in history.

"We have a failure of the spacecraft ... we have not landed successfully," SpaceIL confirmed on the company's livestream of the landing attempt.
