Trump hails call with China's Xi, says trade talks are making good progress

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Twitter on Saturday that he had a "long and very good call" with Chinese President Xi Jinping and that a possible trade deal between the United States and China was progressing well.

"Just had a long and very good call with President Xi of China," Trump wrote. "Deal is moving along very well. If made, it will be very comprehensive, covering all subjects, areas and points of dispute. Big progress being made!"

Earlier this month, China expressed confidence in striking a trade deal with the United States within their 90-day ceasefire period, praising the recent meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping as highly successful.

In Argentina during the G-20 Summit, Trump and Xi agreed to a truce that delayed the planned Jan. 1 U.S. hike of tariffs to 25 percent from 10 percent on $200 billion of Chinese goods while they negotiate a trade deal.
